HLA typing information describes the genetic makeup of donors and recipients. Entering this information into the system enables the allocation process to match recipients whose antibodies will not reject organs from donors. Typically, HLA typing information is only entered once, as it does not change over time.

HLA antibody information describes antibodies in a recipient’s body that might lead to transplant rejection. Serum samples are tested periodically for HLA antibody information, and the entire history of a recipient’s antibody history might be considered as part of a transplant allocation.

This section provides information and procedures related to entering and viewing HLA results for donors and recipients.
