Intended audience: recipient coordinator transplant program admin

A recipient must be added to an organ waitlist to begin accruing wait time and to be included in allocation recommendations for that organ.

A recipient coordinator (or designate) adds the recipient to an organ waitlist by indicating the recipient's medical status. Over time, the recipient coordinator will add or update information on the recipient’s profile and organ journey(s) to maintain their active waitlist status.

The system sends reminders when key recipient data must be updated (e.g., NaMELD test results every 90 days for adult recipients).

Recipient coordinators can place a recipient on a temporary medical hold when they are not available for transplantation, or remove them from the waitlist if they withdraw, become to sick, or die. Recipients may also be removed from the waitlist if they no longer meet the listing criteria.
