Allocation checklists are an important quality control step.
Two Clinical Services Coordinators (CSCs) must complete each checklist to confirm that the allocation recommendation accurately reflects the donor information, the organ is going to the correct recipient, and the correct donor organ is being recovered.
Pre-Allocation Checklist: completed before the offering process, to ensure that relevant details about the donor are correct before CSCs start making offers to recipients.
Post-Allocation Checklist: completed after offer(s) are accepted and ready for organ recovery. CSCs ensure they are initiating the recovery process for the correct donor, by checking relevant donor details.
Re-Allocation Checklist: after the organ has been reallocated the CSCs complete the re-allocation checklist to ensure the organ is allocated to the correct recipient.
